The Crucible Summative Writing Assignment

On Friday, we took the reading quiz over Act 4 of The Crucible, and we talked about the summative exam for The Crucible. You also received an exam review for The Crucible. We will go over the answers that in class on Thursday, 10/11/2018. Please note that The Crucible summative exam has been moved to Friday, 10/12/2018 as discussed in class.

The summative exam for The Crucible is a little different than what we've done in the past. 50% of it is multiple choice, and 50% of it is written response.

All you have to do is download it, save it to your computer, and input your information and writing. If that's not working for you, click here to review MLA formatting so you can do it yourself.

Essential MLA Formatting includes:

• Size 12 Times New Roman Font
• Double spaced (use the toolbar! set spacing to 2.0)
• One inch margins all the way around
• Your complete heading on the first page ONLY:
• Your Name
• Teacher Name
• Class - Period number
• Due date in European Formatting (12 October 2018)
• The title of your assignment is centered
• No extra spaces between paragraphs
• No extra spaces before or after your title
• Any time you type The Crucible, it needs to be italicized
• Cite all pieces of text evidence and use quotation marks for direct quotes
• Books = author's last name and page number in parenthesis at the end of the sentence


• individual articles = just author's last name in parenthesis at the end of the sentence
• If you want to cite a piece of art, use your own words (no quotation marks) to describe the detail you'd like to discuss, then put the artist's last name in parenthesis at the end of the sentence.

• So far, we have completed three MGS (Multi-Genre Synthesis) assignments. Each MGS has a different essential question. The essential question for each MGS is printed at the top of the MGS, so they're pretty easy to find.
• If you turned in MGS #1 and MGS #2 on time, I handed them back to you in class on Friday. I have not yet returned MGS #3, so I have posted the documents for it right here.
• Pick one of the three essential questions.
• The writing assignment is to answer one of the essential questions. Use a TOTAL at least four direct quotes from The Crucible and the MGS you've chosen to use.
• To answer the essential question, you'll need to submit:
• a thesis
• three body paragraphs
• a restated thesis
