EOC Review: Essay Review

Here are the essay notes from today. The rectangle and the hourglass should form the "shape" of your essay. Start broad, then give details and examples, then broaden it back out.

Read the image for more information:

Today, we discussed the above image, which includes options for your persuasive conclusion. You have several options, and today we discussed how to use emotive language in your conclusion.

Emotive language is language that attempts to have an emotional impact on the audience. (In this case, that's the person who is going to read your paper.) Emotive language can be positive or negative.

Emotive Language

We watched three video clips of persuasive moments where the speaker uses emotive language.

From "Pursuit of Happyness (sic)"

From "Rocky"

EOC Review: Revising and Editing Practices - Annotated with Answers

Here are the practices we did in class this week, March 20-22, 2018.

Click through the images to see answers and our class notes for these practices.

This is a Revising practice:

"Miss, how can you tell it's Revising?"

There's no heading that says that it is revising or editing. It just comes under the generic heading of Writing. You have to look at the directions. For revising, it literally says the word, so it's pretty easy to figure out.

These are Editing practices:

"Miss, how can you tell it's Editing?"

For Editing, it doesn't say editing in a header or in the directions. If you read the directions, they use the word "corrections" or something similar to that.
