Additions

I put it on the calendar - but just in case you didn't see it there:
You have two opportunities to do a DPM Reassessment:
- Monday after school (you must start by 2:40pm)
- Tuesday before school (starts at 6:20am)

Because we couldn't do the Nonfiction Book Club this Tuesday, we will hold our first meeting next Tuesday, February 4, 2014. It will be in Mrs. Fogarty's room, two doors down from mine.

EOC Tutoring also starts on Feburary 4.

New Dates!

I updated the calendar to reflect new dates and the DPM essay reassessment: Vardaman would say it's not a fish.

More Inclement Weather

No school Tuesday, per the CFISD website. Perhaps I'll see y'all on Wednesday? Please look at what I posted earlier today and start preparing for our discussion. (See below.)

K/H Stuff: New Vocab, AILD Socratic Seminar Info/Notes

Here's the Vocab 15/16 Notes: Please study. Dewey Dell would agree.

Socratic Seminar / class discussion questions: Because someone's mother is a fish. Or a horse. And you need to figure that out.

Here are some archetype notes to consider, too: Mark your text for interesting archetypes.

Inclement weather nonsense.

I hope you had a wonderful Friday sleeping in and whatnot. What we had planned to do on Friday, we will simply do Monday. K/H will do vocab 13/14, and on-level will reassess the most recent persuasive piece.

Lookin' forward to it. See you then. If you're taking the SAT on Saturday, good luck. :o)

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a remarkable feat of investigative journalism and a moving work of narrative nonfiction that reads with the vividness and urgency of fiction.” NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO

Persuasive Structures - Mrs. Wise's Whole Packet!

By popular demand - here is the whole persuasive packet (essays, kernels, and all)!

Yep. Just click here.

The PDF is 46 pages total. If you're going to print it - we focused on pages 5-19. The rest is great information, too. Feel free to look through it.

Side note: On page 4 of the PDF, it says that Expository is on the exam - this was true on the December retest. This packet was originally made as a remediation packet. So if you're taking the English II EOC for the first time this year, you do not have an expository essay on your test.
