Gatsby Exam Review, Exam Review Extra Credit
Click here to view the extra credit for the Gatsby Summative Exam. The post-it note annotations are worth 5 points per chapter, so that means that this extra credit worth 15 points on Monday's Gatsby exam. Do it! This extra credit is due on Monday, March 4, 2019.

Prepare for the Gatsby Socratic Seminar
On Monday, we started to prepare for the Socratic seminar for The Great Gatsby. Our main goal is to discuss the book, so we can understand it better. Hopefully, then, this will lead us to excellent scores on the Gatsby final test next week. PLUS, class discussions are fun - amirite?
In case you were absent or lost yours, click here to download a blank copy of the prep sheet for the Gatsby Socratic Seminar. Please make sure you read all of the directions. Some sections require answers for your questions, complete with text evidence and citations.
Remember: If you're citing a book, you just put the author's last name and page number in parenthesis at the end of the sentence. For example: Tom Buchanan accuses Jay Gatsby of being a bootlegger during the confrontation by saying that Gatsby's stores "sold grain alcohol over the counter" during the Prohibition (Fitzgerald 133). Notice that the citation (Fitzgerald 133) is before the period at the end of the sentence.

Please come prepared on block day! Your whole prep sheet should be done. This Socratic seminar is a double daily grade - one grade for the completed prep sheet (again - please read the directions on the page to make sure you've done everything), and one grade for your participation in the discussion. For whatever reason, if you are unhappy with your discussion grade, you will have a chance to raise that grade after we do the seminar.

You will then take ONE of those analysis paragraphs and turn it in on TurnItIn.com. It's just one single paragraph. You also received a piece of paper that states how this paragraph will be graded. Please note that I have changed the due date to Friday, February 8 at 11:59pm.
