How to create a student account on TurnItIn.com

 

1. On a web browser, go to www.turnitin.com
2. At the top of the page, click on “Create Account”
3. Click “Student”
4. Enter your class ID number, class enrollment password, first and last name (capitalized, please!), and a valid email address.
1. Don’t have a valid email address? I highly recommend Gmail.
2. Aside: It’s probably best if you don’t use your parent’s email address. If you do, that’s okay, but I have an option that lets me email my whole class, and I’m pretty sure your parents don’t want my English class business in their email box.
5. Create a password and confirm the password. Create a secret question.
6. Agree to the user agreement by clicking “I agree – create profile.”
7. The website may ask you to enable cookies. To enable cookies:
1. On Internet Explorer, go to Tools – Internet Options – Privacy – Sites – type in www.turnitin.com – click Allow – OK – OK

Somebody requested that I post the reassessment policies online, just for future reference:

Please keep in mind that we didn't invent the concept of reassessment just to get on your nerves. I promise. The basic idea is that you are allowed to reassess (or resubmit) assignments to show evidence of additional mastery and therefore improve your grade. BRILLIANT. Wish they had this when I was in your seat.

• Reading check quizzes cannot be reassessed. You are expected to read the assigned reading on time.
• You must have turned in the original assessment in order to reassess it.
• You have three days from the day I return graded work to come in for tutoring and reassess or resubmit the work.
• No reassessments will take place in class.
• No reassessments the last week of a grading period.
• Students must attend tutoring or show tangible evidence of additional studying or learning in order to reassess.
